The Oben AC-1441 4-Section Aluminum Tripod with BA-111 Ball Head is a composite of two fine pieces of technology merged to give a stunning result that is both strong and versatile for both indoor and outdoor use cases.
Let’s start with the AC-1441 tripod itself. What you get right out of the gate is a strong and lightweight aluminum frame that has a load capacity of up to 11lb (5kg) which fits most standard DLSR cameras with a few accessories attached. Plus a compact built that is extendable up to 61.6″ or 156.7cm. This allows for ease of use for taller individuals or just in case you need that extra clearance height. Its 21.3″ or 54.1cm folding height fulfills our compact definition above and at just 3.3lb or 1.5kg, you don’t need a lot of muscle to light and adjust this tripod as needed. As the name suggests, the body is made out of a strong and durable Aluminum alloy that has 4 sections that are freely adjustable to balance you out on uneven terrains.
Then you get to the BA-111 Ball head which is a very sensible add-on to this tripod as it not only allows 360 degrees of movement but does it at a butter-smooth rate. Not to mention that the secure locking works flawlessly with a quick-release that makes setting up and disassembling a painless experience.
To sweeten the deal, Oben even threw in a carrying case. Might not sound like a big deal until you need one and have to buy it separately so they get a plus from us. Speaking of creature comforts, the leg warmers are an excellent touch while the flip locks are so simple and convenient that as a practical matter its is ok.
There is one minor wrinkle though. Most users find it a slight inconvenience to have to hold the camera while positioning the head but this might just be one of those faults that we wish to nit-pick about. Plus speaking about nit-picking, the levels could be a little bigger and positioned so you can easily see them even when the camera is positioned in reverse. Again not a big deal but worth noting.
